Policy for the Use of Copyrighted Work

Computer Use and File Sharing Policy

The scope of this policy is limited to the use of copyrighted works, and does not extend to copyright ownership or other issues of intellectual property.

U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S. 法典第101条及以下)规定，金沙js6038社区的所有成员(包括教师), staff, 学生和志愿者)尊重联邦法律的条款，避免侵犯版权所有者的所有权.

Toward that end, McDaniel College incorporates here the guidance offered by the U.S. Copyright Office regarding fair use:

The 1961 Report of the Register of Copyrights on the General Revision of the U.S. Copyright Law cites examples of activities that courts have regarded as fair use: “quotation of excerpts in a review or criticism for purposes of illustration or comment; quotation of short passages in a scholarly or technical work, for illustration or clarification of the author’s observations; use in a parody of some of the content of the work parodied; summary of an address or article, with brief quotations, in a news report; reproduction by a library of a portion of a work to replace part of a damaged copy; reproduction by a teacher or student of a small part of a work to illustrate a lesson; reproduction of a work in legislative or judicial proceedings or reports; incidental and fortuitous reproduction, in a newsreel or broadcast, of a work located in the scene of an event being reported.”

The software provided by the College for use by faculty, staff, and students may be used only as specified in the various software licenses.

The College regards violation of this policy as a serious matter, and any such violation is subject to disciplinary action. Repeated violations will result in loss of computing privileges, 在其他可能的制裁措施中，包括开除惯犯(无论是学生还是员工)。.
